Risk & Compliance Associate
Nature of role
This Risk & Compliance Associate will focus on business acceptance for up to 5 law firm clients, though the team will work with up to 15 firms each month and so this Associate will experience a wide variety of business activities and environments.
There will be opportunities for this role to evolve and develop into wider Risk & Compliance areas, in accordance with the experience, skills and drive of the right Associate.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Intake: new client and matter inception tasks, including the related AML compliance requirements (client due diligence), sanctions screening, conflict checking and engagement terms);
- Ongoing monitoring: of money laundering and sanctions risks;
- Compliance databases: maintaining core-compliance analysis and records; and
- Other support: in connection with projects (e.g. insurance and regulatory renewals, audits, research and policy and documentation reviews).
Qualities and experience
The candidate will hold a law degree/GDL and will have some experience working in the compliance function/business acceptance department of a law firm, such experience to include:
- The conduct of client due diligence/AML compliance; and/or
- Conflict checking and conflict analysis.
Additional key qualities will include:
- Strong MS Excel and MS Word skills;
- High levels of organisation;
- Ability to work without close supervision;
